The Loudon Redskins baseball team will induct six members into its hall of fame during a banquet Friday night. Those being inducted will be announced during the event.
Current criteria states players cannot be from post-2000 classes and must be nominated to the committee overseeing the hall.
Once a nomination is made, players must fall under one of the following: three-year starter at Loudon, two-year All-District player, district MVP, All-State player, record holder for Loudon under Bill Thompson's time as coach or a player who continues to provide support to the program.
Exceptions can be made for outstanding circumstances, including teams from 1975 and 1976 who could not start for three full seasons since there was no team prior to 1975.
"All the players that come back enjoy seeing everybody," Loudon baseball coach Bill Thompson said. "It ties everything together. They come back and remember the years they played in high school. For a period of time, they're able to go back into their youth. It's really a good thing and I really enjoy it."
Former inductees included David Grissom, 1976; Conway Tuck, 1979; Joe Ford and Mike McNabb, 1983; Toby Townson, 1986; Greg Monger, 1989; Josh Millsaps, 1995; Lee Carroll and Eddie Cook, 1996; Wesley Evans, 1999; Jason Oody, 1992; Steve Martin, 2000; Mike Brookshire and Bumper Webster, 1976; Mike White, 1986; and Bobby White and Jeff Oody, 1987.
Friday's banquet will begin at 6 p.m. Friday in the Loudon High School cafeteria. Cost to attend is $5 for former players and $10 for all others. The cost for entrance will be paid at the door.
