Greenback's girls wrapped their regular season Thursday night, winning 50-45 over Knoxville Ambassadors.
The Lady Cherokees led for almost the entire game, but let the Ambassadors cut things to as little as two points in the fourth quarter.
"I wasn't happy with how they played for 32 minutes tonight, but I was pleased that they never gave up," head coach Courtney McDaniel said.
With the win, the Lady Cherokees wrap the regular season on a three-game streak, something they had not done all season.
"That's good for them," McDaniel said. "Their confidence is coming, they're starting to trust more of what I say when it comes to being a mental giant and being confident in our individuals, being confident in our team, being confident in our system. I think it's starting to catch on and they're starting to think we can beat people."
Thursday was also senior night for the team.
"I couldn't ask for a better group of seniors to come into and spend my first year with," McDaniel said. "They're great leaders, great communicators. I've learned a lot from them. I know how hard it is as a senior, when you've had the same coach for most of your life, to make an adjustment, but they bought in and they buy in every day to what I'm doing."
Greenback's boys lost 60-50. They will finish their season Monday night at Tennessee School for the Deaf.
