A team that has struggled with injury and sickness all year is finally starting to get healthy. And it showed Monday night as the Lady 'Kees took control in the second half and won 49-37 at home against Berean Christian.
"We need to take this, build on it and get a little momentum from here," Greenback Head Coach Ed McCollum said after the game. McCollum said with Kaylan Chapparo fully healhty, he was able to rotate her and Stephanie Rhyne at the post and he played Hannah Dukes on the outside all night. "Hannah was ready and it helps to have her," he said.
Berean actually held a one point lead after the first quarter, but the Lady 'Kees went on a 10-0 run late in the first half to take control of the game, 29-14 at halftime. They allowed just two points in the second quarter. McCollum also said he was happy with the play of guard Kelsey Wheeler, who he brought off the bench instead of starting.
The Lady 'Kees will return to action Friday when they host Harriman. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. They'll also host Cosby Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
