The Lady Cherokee offense died off in the second half of the third quarter as Greenback fell at Midway Friday night 48-38.
The teams fought to a 25-all tie with 4:23 to go in the third when the Lady 'Kees quit scoring and Midway went on a 9-0 run to lead 34-25 after three. The Lady 'Kees tried to fight back in the fourth quarter, as they cut the gap to six with shots from Sarah Rhyne and Hannah Dukes. They also cut the deficit to four on two separate occasions, but Midway had too much offense for the Lady 'Kees to come all the way back.
The game was completely even throughout the first two-and-a-half quarters as neither team held a lead of more than four points. The advantage changed hands multiple times as well, as Greenback led after the first quarter and Midway led at halftime. The offensive drought late in the third was the turning point for the Lady 'Kees, however, and the opening Midway needed to pull out to the win.
Dukes led Greenback in scoring with 14 and Rhyne followed with 13.
