The Loudon Redskins rolled to their eighth straight win Friday night, holding off a late Highlander charge to win 61-52 at Scott County. The Redskins haven't lost since falling to Lenoir City on Dec. 19 and four of their eight wins during the streak have come against District 4(2A) foes.
Friday night's win was over one of those district opponents and the Redskins did to Scott County what they've been doing to most of their opponents during this streak, they jumped ahead early. The Redskins grabbed a five-point lead after the opening quarter and expanded it out to a 12-point advantage at halftime.
The lead grew out to 14 by the end of the third period, as Loudon outscored Scott County 12-10. The Highlanders finally had an advantage in the fourth period, but their 19-14 advantage only closed the gap and the Redskins held off the charging Highlanders.
Zac Strange and David Lee Haskins led the Redskins with 13 points each. Josh Berry also contributed 12 points to the win. The Highlanders were led by Isaac Blakely's 17 points and Jacob Sexton's 10.
The Redskins will look to pick up their ninth straight overall victory and their fifth straight district win Tuesday night as they return home to host Alcoa. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
