Former Loudon and Lenoir City Head Coach Shane Wells returned to Loudon Tuesday night as the head coach at CAK. For the second time this season, the Redskins recorded a win over Wells' Warriors, this time 61-55.
"This is the first game all year that we didn't shoot the ball well and had too many turnovers, but still won the game," Loudon Head Coach Colt Narramore said after the game. The Redskins certainly struggled shooting early, as CAK grabbed an early 10-4 lead. Loudon fought back on the shooting of Jacob Poynter, Sam Curtis and David Lee Haskins, though. The three combined to tie the game at 10, but the Warriors scored again to take an 11-10 lead to the second.
Loudon finally opened a bit of a lead in the second as Zac Strange scored four straight points and then, after a CAK free throw, Haskins put the Redskins up by four. The Warriors didn't relent, however, tying the game twice before grabbing a 24-22 halftime advantage. After a Haskins bucket to start the period, the CAK lead continued as the visitors built a five point lead with 3:35 left in the third.
Poynter then hit a jumper and Haskins and Josh Berry added buckets to give Loudon a late lead. After a CAK bucket, Curtis drained a three to vault Loudon to a 41-40 lead heading to the fourth. CAK jumped ahead to start the fourth, but the Redskins grabbed control from there, scoring 12 straight points on shots by Haskins, Hayden Grimes and Jordan Belvin.
The 12-0 run sealed the win for Loudon. Haskins led the Redskins with 16 points, while Strange added 12.
The Redskins will return to action Friday at Scott County. Game time is set for 8 p.m.
