The Lady Redskins were a bit banged up entering Friday night's home game against Stone Memorial, but Loudon Head Coach Bryant Collins wasn't using that as an excuse for his team's 54-37 loss to the Lady Panthers.
He did, however, give credit to his girls for playing hard despite the injuries and sickness. "I was real proud of the way they played hard and fought," he said.
The Lady Redskins were competitive early with Stone, trailing by just 10 with 48.9 seconds remaining in the first half, but the Lady Panthers pulled out to a 14 point halftime lead and then pulled away in the second half to the 17-point victory. However, the Lady Redskins settled in a bit as the game progressed and outscored Stone 11-10 in the fourth quarter. "As the game went on, we got a little more comfortable and quit turning the ball over so much and made a few shots there late," Collins said.
Jara Gasper was the lone Lady Redskin to score in double digits, as she dropped in 11 points. The Lady Redskins will host CAK Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
