A lack of effort led to a poor second quarter and the poor second quarter led to a loss for Greenback Tuesday night in Harriman.

In three quarters of play, the Lady Cherokees outscored the Lady Blue Devils 43-39, but a 10-point disadvantage in the second quarter led to Greenback's 61-53 loss.
"We just didn't play very hard (in the second)," Greenback Head Coach Ed McCollum said after the game.  "We just didn't get the job done."

Harriman took an early 5-0 lead in the game, but Greenback fought back to lead 13-12 after one quarter.
The second began well for the Lady 'Kees as they outscored Harriman 5-1 to start the period, taking an 18-13 lead.

The Lady Blue Devils took control from there, however, scoring 21 of the next 26 second quarter points to go to halftime ahead 34-23.
The Lady Blue Devils stole the ball three times in that span and got five of their 21 points off steals.
The only points for Greenback in those six minutes came from Kaylan Chaparro on a three-point play and Katelyn Sparks on a jumper.

There was no significant change in the margin in the third, as Harriman matched Greenback score-for-score and the teams headed to the fourth with the same 11-point difference.
After a pair of Harriman free throws, however, the fourth was largely controlled by Greenback.
Samantha McCollum hit one of two free throws with 7:37 to go in the game, setting off a 9-0 Lady Cherokee run that got them back in the game.

Hannah Dukes hit a layup, McCollum hit another free throw and Kelsey Wheeler added a pair of charity tosses during the run.
After the nearly three-minute scoring stretch for Greenback, the visitors trailed by just four points, at 48-44.

That didn't last, however, as Harriman's Moriah Anderson drained a three and Harriman didn't trail by less than five the remainder of the game.

Ashley Brown led the way in scoring for the Lady 'Kees with 14 points.  Dukes and McCollum both added 13 each to the tally.
