Traffic on U.S. Highway 321 across
Fort Loudoun Dam has been restricted to one lane except on weekends beginning Sunday Jan. 10, while
TVA crews relocate the temporary floodwall and repair roadway lighting on the dam.
To the extent possible, work will be done at night and a traffic lane is
expected to be closed from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday through Friday for the duration of the project,
which should last about a month, depending on weather conditions, according to officials at TVA.
All lanes of U.S. 321 will be open on weekends from Friday morning though
Sunday evening.
TVA is relocating the sand baskets, placed on top
of the dam in November, to the opposite side of the highway to improve visibility of the exit ramp
for drivers and improve drainage from the bridge surface.
The roadway
lighting on the dam and bridge is also scheduled to be repaired during this period of lane closures.
TVA asks motorists to be extra careful when driving in the work area for
their safety as well as that of the workers.
