Hedrick Rodeo Company made its return to the city of Loudon Friday and Saturday nights for the second annual Loudon County Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Pro Rodeo.
Gates opened at 6 p.m. Friday evening and the rodeo got underway at 8 p.m. in front of a large crowd of Loudon County spectators - more than 1,200 people were present for the two-night event. Events ranging from bronco riding to barrell racing to calf roping to bull riding kept the onlookers entertained for much of both evenings.
Saturday's events kicked off at 10 a.m. with a rodeo parade that featured radio and TV personality Ed Rupp as the Grand Marshall. Along with the action in the ring, the rodeo featured pony rides and mechanical bull rides for the children and numerous vendors and concessions.
Rick Ward served as the announcer for the event.
As for results, they are as follows: • bareback riding champion - Andrew Smith • calf roping champion - Zach Hall • team roping champions - Ross Lowery and Booger Britnell, whose time of 3.9 seconds barely missed the world record mark of 3.5 seconds • barrel racing champion - Yvette Wilson • bull riding champion - Clay Clark, who rode the son of famed "Worlds Most Dangerous Bull" Bodacious
All proceeds raised from the rodeo will go to support Loudon County Farm Bureau programs such as the leadership program, ag in the classroom and farm city day.
