Kenneth Allison, 79, Lenoir City, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2012. He is remembered as a man of valor in Loudon County.

Kenneth was born in 1932 in Loudon County. He went into the U.S. Army in 1955, went to school for Nike Missiles and served in the Korean War from 1960 to 1962 with the missile battalion.
 
In 1965, he went to advance chemical school and from there he went to Germany from 1966-1969. He served in the Vietnam War from 1970-1971.

In 1973 he went to work with the U.S. Air Force under NORAD and in 1975 he went to school for NCOES. Kenneth retired in 1978 after 20 years of duty.

He was then placed in the individual ready reserves for 22 years with a total of 42 years of military service.

The medals that he received included: Bronze Star, Air Medal with the fourth award, Vietnam Service Medal with two Battle Stars, Air Craft Crewman Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, the Army Commendation Medal with two O/C, Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal with two O/C, the Good Conduct Medal with sixth award, National Defense Service Medal, certificate of appreciation from the Secretary of the Army, Certificate of Appreciation for Support of State Funeral of former President Lyndon B. Johnson, Joint Service Commendation Medal and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hessie and James Allison; brother, Raymond Allison; and sister, Joyce Toomey.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Allison; sons, James Allison and Randy D'Attilio; grandchildren, James Kenneth Allison and Kayla Michelle Allison; brother, Curtis Allison; sisters, Katherine Fritts and Itha Sue Smith; two special nephews, Anthony Toomey and Tim Smith, and niece, Angie Allison.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Eddie Chasteen officiating. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Loudon County Memorial Gardens for graveside services with military honors.
