Virgil D. Plemons, 55, of Managua, Nicaragua, formerly of Lenoir City, passed away suddenly Feb. 4, 2010, in Nicaragua.
He was a 1972 graduate of Lenoir City High School and a graduate of Carson Newman College. Virgil taught many years in the Darling County, S.C. school district and most recently he taught at the American Nicaraguan School in Managua, Nicaragua. He won many awards during his teaching career and will be greatly missed by his students and colleagues. He was a member of Fellowship Community Church in Hartsville, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Elizabeth Plemons; by his sisters, Rachel Plemons and Martha L. Hill; and by his brothers, Baxter, Walter, and William E. (Curly) Plemons.
He is survived by his children, Daniel Plemons and wife, Susan of Hartsville, S.C., and Sarah Plemons of Houston, Texas; by his grandchildren, Samuel and Eliza of Hartsville, S.C.; by his sisters, Mrs. Aileen Watkins, Mrs. Alice (Jim) Mills, Mrs. Dorothy (Bill) Lowe of Lenoir City; by his brothers, Dexter Plemons of Loudon and Calvin Plemons of Lenoir City; and by several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hartsville, S.C.
