Mrs. Ada Jenkins Lawson, 87, of Calhoun, Ga., passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, following an extended illness.
She was retired from the textile industry and was a member of College Street Church of God.
Mrs. Lawson was born Sept. 16, 1922, in Knoxville, daughter of the late Henry and Annie Poteet Jenkins. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lawson was preceeded in death by her husband, Tommy Lawson; by two sons, Lester "Peanut" Lawson and Jack Lawson; by three sisters, Julie Perian, Ellen Perian and Came Bates; by one brother, H.B. Jenkins; by her grandsons, Stephen Phillips and Ricky Long and by her infant granddaughters, Katherine and Kathy Blalock.
Mrs. Lawson is survived by her daughters, Chloie Dooley, Karella Long and her husband, Johnny and Vickie Blalock and her husband, Harold, all of Calhoun, Ga., Wanda Blalock and Lonnita Willis and her husband, Al, all of Adairsville, Ga.; one son, Jimmy Lawson of Calhoun, Ga.; one brother, Will Jenkins of Delano, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren and their spouses; 32 great-grandchildren and their spouses; nine great-great-grandchildren and by her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ada Jenkins Lawson will be conducted Monday at 3 p.m. at the College Street Church of God with Tommy Phillips and Pastor Donald Lee officiating. Active pallbearers will be Glenn Phillips, Randy Long, Clay Long, Lovin Lawson, Lane Lawson, Gary Blalock and Kam Willis. The honorary escort will be Tommy Lee Lawson, David Lawson, Joe Lawson, Jackie Lawson, Donnie Lawson and Jeff Lawson. Interment will follow the service in Chandler Cemetery. The family received friends at Max Barnnon and Sons Funeral Home Sunday evening.
