Mark Douglas Fair, 59, of Piqua, Ohio, died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Piqua on Jan. 30, 1950, to the late Norman and Doris (Abernathy) Fair.
Mark graduated from Bradford High School on Bradford, Ohio in 1968. He was a licensed insurance agent in the Piqua area since 2002. He formerly worked for the Board of Water and Light in Michigan. Mark coached youth basketball and football for St. Johns Youth Athletic Association in St. Johns, Michigan. He also coached youth junior pro basketball in Lansing, Michigan. He coached youth basketball in East Tennessee in the Loudon and Lenoir City area. He also coached Piqua Junior High basketball.
On March 16, 2002 in Florida, he married his best friend, Jodi L. Thomas. She survives. Mark is also survived by one daughter, Nicole Scrivner of Piqua; one son, Christopher (Jarred) Fair of Lansing, Mich.; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Eli Carroll of Piqua; one step-son, Daniel Young of Piqua; one brother, Michael Fair of Florida; two sisters, Melissa Maynard and Michelle Fair, both of Florida; and by four grandchildren, Morgan Kennedy of Piqua, Logan Kennedy of Piqua, Aubree Carroll of Piqua and Samantha Fair of Lansing, Mich. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and by his oldest and dearest friends, Don and Carol Christian of Bradford, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marsha Fair.
Celebration of Mark's life will be on his birthday Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home in Piqua with Pastor John Young officiating.
