Lillian Cornwell Blankenship, born April 28, 1915, passed away Jan. 24, 2010.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Will and Maude Witt Cornwell; her brothers, Gwen and Clarence; and by her sisters, Vannoy Bates and Bertha Wilson.
Eugene Blankenship, born Feb. 9, 1919, passed away Nov. 18, 2009. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Irene and Gilbert Blankenship; and by his brothers, Charles, Ervin, Neville and Jewell.
They are survived by a son, Wayne Blankenship and wife, Josephine; their daughter, Wanda Dinwiddie; their granddaughter, Heather Blankenship; their grandson, Andrew Blankenship; a sister, Maude B. Alexander; and by several beloved nieces and nephews.
Lil retired from Eaton Corporation. She loved needlework of all kinds, many children have warm heads thanks to her knitted caps. She loved the Lady Vols.
Gene was a retired barber and also worked for the Lenoir City Police Department. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the Marine Corp and was in the Battle of Iwo Jima.
Lil and Gene were, for many years, campground hosts at Indian Boundary in the Cherokee National Forest. They were involved with a CB Club and were square dancers. They covered many miles on their motorcycles and were avid fishermen. They were both members of First Baptist Church in Lenoir City.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity. Family and friends will gather at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Lakeview Cemetery for graveside services with Dr. Dick DeMerchant officiating.
