Riding a three-game losing streak in tough district play, the
Lenoir City Lady Panthers started out slow Tuesday night but did not give up.
A stellar third
quarter earned a tie, but down the stretch there simply was not enough juice in the tank as the Lady
Panthers lost a heartbreaker 35-33.
Conversely, the boys were enjoying a three-game winning
streak with recent victories over district opponents William Blount, Bearden and Maryville. The
Panthers delivered a finish the partisan crowd expected with a 66-60 come-from-behind
win. More

Schools were closed Friday due to bad weather. In spite of
that, Lenoir City traveled to Maryville and unleashed a storm of their own in the way of a 62-58
thrashing of the Rebels. It was a favor the Panthers had looked forward to returning after losing to
the Rebels Dec. 9 at home. The Lady Panthers hoped for revenge as well, but could not muster the
same intensity as the boys. The girls took a 60-40 loss right on the nose, as did Lenoir City point
guard Tyler Powers. Normally the high scorer for the Lady Panthers, Powers took a hit in the nose
and left the game during the second half. Before she departed Maryville had her number and limited
Powers to only two points. More
